hi,

I wonder if it's possible to make the buttons of the button bar right below the image (with next, previous, download, etc) smaller? Or even remove the square button and only show the little pictogram (the arow and pause symbol, etc) ? I'm trying to achieve a very minimal interface.

Yes, you can make the buttons smaller. Open slideshowconfig.ini and edit the values of controlsdimensionx and controlsdimensiony.
It's also possible to remove the square buttons. Set controlsbackalpha, controlsbackoveralpha and controlsbackpressalpha to 0.

Thanks for the fast reply! However, when i put those 3 parameters to 0, the buttons simply disappear completely, so i cannot longer see the square (which is good), but i can't see the symbols inside the squares anymore (which is not so good .

Try to change the controlsforegroundcolor in slideshowconfig.ini.
