How can I hide the close button on the right side of the image? I set altcontrols=false, but the button stills there.

Why do you want to hide the close button?
If you hide it, you can not go back to the gallery anymore!

If you use the slideshow without gallery then there is no close button. Like here: https://www.photo.gallery/imagevue/slideshow.php
