Hopefully an easy description fix.

Hey all, My first time posting to the forums. Despite my efforts, I couldn't get everything configured just right in my gallery.

Anyways, my problem:

I've referenced the website, and am unable to pinpoint this effect I want, pertaining to the image description. In the admin log, I am able to succesfully save image descriptions, so permissions shouldn't be the problem.

I'm trying to achieve my descriptions showing up in a fly-out box, that of which spreads across the bottom of the image when loaded, and collapses when clicked. There was an example on this website, though I am unable to find it now. I've experimented with the different settings in the config files, perhaps I am editing the wrong ones (template/upload)?

I appreciate any efforts on your part, imagevue is one fine program.

You can access my gallery via http://www.timsalcove.com/Gallery/

In the process of updating, only one image in (freestyle)

Thank you! : )

I believe you are talking about opening images directly in Imagevue (without using the slideshow). Something like this:

www.photo.gallery/imagevue/?thumbopenwin=false (as opposed to the default system www.photo.gallery/imagevue/ which opens images in the slideshow module)

You would then be able to enable descriptions ( https://www.photo.gallery/support/docs/146 ) from the config.ini file.

Of course, when using this method, you will not be able to display images in the way the slideshow displays them ...

Mjau, Thanks a lot for replying. : ) I'd give you a klondike bar, or something nice, if I could.

Okay, I'm understanding the whole difference between slideshow and gallery mode now, thanks for kind of clarifying that. I'd appreciate your recommendation on this:

On my gallery, I'm going to have a variety of image sizes, (landscape, portait, etc) the images won't be any taller or wider than 1000 pixels. (most of the time) The image (Hot, in the freestyle section) is currently displaying the description in the image toward the bottom. most likely, I'm going to be having longer (sometimes much longer) descriptions of my images. So is there any alternative to having my descriptions pushed out of view by my images? perhaps consider mouse rollover descriptions instead? I'm assuming you can't scroll down to see the description in slideshow view.

Thanks once again. I'll get that klondike bar over soon as I can.

You did of course consider your options for displaying description? You can also display them on the right side of the image of course, like here: click

Optionally, you could also set descriptions to appear in tooltip on image rollover. Personally I think it looks nice in your example, but as the descriptions get long they will of course cover larger parts of the image.

I'll be awaiting the klondike bar. I had to do a lookup at wikipedia for klondike bar http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Klondike_bar - At first, I thought you were talking about sending me an entire klondike (drinking)bar, like from the goldrush days of klondike alaska, including the classy girls with feathers in their hair and the drunken cowboys gambling away their coins.

Hey Karl, I actually ended up doing a pop-up description, there wasn't enough room for my descriptions on the right hand side.

Sad as it is, I'm out of questions, and my gallery is working just how I want it, such a pity Hm?

Haha! You know, the alternative klondike sounds just as good.

I appreciate your help- I was just a little turned around on how to use descriptions. You can delete this post, or, perhaps someone will find it useful. *shrugs*

I thank you!
