Images fine at two folders level but not at three folder lev

I am having a problem where by if i upload pictures to the gallery to a two folder level e.g. \content\Events\event its fine..... but if i upload to 3 level e.g. \content\events\2007\event then it shows 0 photos even though there are photos in that directory. Is this a limitation ?
The folder permissions are all the same.... as soon as i get on ftp and move the folder back a level it works fine. Thanks
