How do I make directimage show the image directly in the slideshow module? Or is there another way?

I dont want to use the slideshow gallery directly, because I want my users to be able to 'return' to thumbs after they viewed the directly linke image.

It seems that some users are experiencing that directimage opens in slideshow when they want it to open inside the imagevue gallery, I want the opposite. Where is this configured?
