Getting email to work from within HTML

Hi all :)

just been tweaking my site again and could not get the Email function to work from within HTML

i was getting this error "send email script not found"

i imagine this is going to be something very simple to point it to where its meant to be looking but i'm not sure what exactly.

i dove into sendpic.php and /include/sendpic.html but i'm not too sure what i needed to change in there.

my site is here http://www.kitesurfsessions.com/kitesur ... llery.html
but i have since disabled the email function til i can get it working...

could anybody please suggest what i need to change (and let me know if you need me to re-enable it so you can diagnose the problem).

much thanks again
tate

been playing with this some more since my first post but am still unsuccesfull.

just thought i'd add some more to help solve this issue, i read this post and went and downloaded the suggested files just to make sure...still no joy.
viewtopic.php?t=1061&highlight=send+email+script

desregarding the information about implementing the 'log file' stuff....it should just work right after step 3 and 4 in the documention right ?? Hmm not for me, i get the error at this stage.

i'm stuck :(

Did you also download/upgrade/upload this files:
  • slideshow.swf
    sendpic.php (new)
    include/sendpic.html (new)
    include/secure.inc.php
    include/Config.class.php

yep i did - everything new from the latest version of imagevuex, and i went thru the instructions to the letter from that setup page (twice) :)

what i have noticed tho, on my website, if i click to email and then enter nothing at all in the popup window, i still get the error 'send email script not found'

but on the imagevuex demo sites if i do this, i get a 'bad email' error.

does that help at all ? why cant mine even find this elusive send email script ??

thanks for the help.

The e-mail function works fine when the gallery played on it's own, and not embedded in your own site: http://www.kitesurfsessions.com/imagevue/upload/

ok yes your right, it does. Great :) thanks for finding that out for me.

it's still beyond me what i have to change to make it work as it should inside my html, i am guessing its in the sendpic.php but i dont know what exactly.

also once we figure this out, i hope the link that is sent to the user via the email, will be able to open my Gallery page here... http://www.kitesurfsessions.com/kitesur ... llery.html and then launch the gallery/slideshow and go dirtectly to the image that was sent to them.

thanks again.

mjau-mjau,

i just noticed at the top of the sendpic.php this...

v0.4
[?] html email fix?

So this was an issue before and maybe not totally working yet ?

Can you recommend something for me to try to make this work or do you think possibly there's still an issue for email within html ?

cheers.

I checked your gallery, and couldn't really test it because the send email was disabled. If you say it doesnt work, I have no reason to doubt that.

One issue is for sure - the email will not work correctly with your custom html integration, simply because it will not be able to accept url parameters referring to which image to display. Only the index.php is able to that unless you modify kitesurfing_gallery.html in kitesurfing_gallery.php and do some coding equivalent to the codes that are in index.php.

hi

i have re-enabled the email function if that helps.

thanks for the fixit advice but most of what u said is beyond me in regards to kitesurfing_gallery.php...do you mean copy/paste upload/index.php and rename it to kitesurfing_gallery.php and make the coding changes in there ? (coding changes..... eerk!!!!! )

thanks again for your help and time, if we can't get this too work then it's not the end of the world, it'd just be a bonus :)

cheers

PM me your ftp too, please, he meant that you probably cutted and paste bit too much and hurt something vital in the gallery code thats why some params not being sent to/from gallery and it cannot use email script
