Image sort - date descending, doesn't work

In my config.ini I have "imagesorting= dd"
but in my imagevue the images are sorted randomly

How can I fix this so that I can sort my images by date (descending)?
Is there some kind of way to change the dates manually on the files through ftp?

I could take a look if you posted a link.

I doubt the images are sorted randomly. Most likely, the server seems to be sorting the images randomly because thats the sequence in what they have been uplaoded.

Unfortunately, the sorting based on DATE, does not utilize the time and date of when the photo was taken, but the date stamp of when the file occurs on the server.

"Unfortunately, the sorting based on DATE, does not utilize the time and date of when the photo was taken, but the date stamp of when the file occurs on the server."

You might want to put that little tidbit INTO THE DOCUMENTATION so people don't waste a huge amount of time trying to figure out what the heck is going on with the sorting. In addition, it's not the case with my server. I uploaded each file one by one to get the order I wanted. No go. I still can't figure out the ordering algorithm but it's ignoring da and dd. Also, it's really flawed anyway. Let us say you carefully upload each picture one by one so you get the order you want. And you want to add a new picture anywhere but at the end. You have to upload every picture again? Bad bad bad.

http://sevmusic.com/photos/?folder=content/Misc/Random/

my config file is set to:
imagesorting = dd

yet its sorting by image name descending.

I even made the pop up info display the date. If you will look you will note the date. First image date says

The first image (which is the last image in name) has a pop up date of Dec. 13th. The image next to it says Nov. 10th. So far so good right?

If you go down a few pages (click next page 15 times or so) to an image called Sev at CBGB or Sev in NYC you will see the date there says Dec.13th.

I've double checked my config file too (just in case).

The thing is, Imagevue sorts the images based on their SERVER creation date. It does not use the EXIF data of when the photo is actually taken. Often, the DATE on server is based the order from when they were uploaded from your desktop.

Often, the best way to keep date order, is to keep original camera filenames like IMG_0569.jpg etc.

server creation date is how I want it sorted. Why is it not sorting?

If you read my post the date that pops up over the thumbnail is the server creation date.

Hmm ... You have the possibility to give me FTP login so I can check it out for myself? Send in private message of course ...

I have the exact same problem and I am version 1.0 user back in year 2003.

I have just changed webserver and are know having problems, so could it have something to do with the server settings:

I don't think that server stamp idea is right, because its not working for me either....

I have my config.ini set to dd

I uploaded the images in the order I wanted them.....however they still seem all mixed up

here is the FTP log

as you can see from the log, the three chickadee pictures should be first, then the hawk pictures followed by the mallard and then the swan

if you check out my gallery (www.demelophotography.ca) it goes swan, 2 images of the hawk, 1 chickadee, 1 hawk, 1 chickadee, 1 hawk, 1 chickadee, 1 hawk, the mallard then 2 hawks

like that isn't any kind of sorting except random! thats not by date, by name, nothing. I dont understand it
