Can the 'content' folder be located on a different server?

31 Jul 2008, 00:20

I'm wanting to host my gallery on a web server, however due to space limitations (10Mb) because of the plan I'm on, I'm going to run into space restrictions rather soon. Therefore, I'm wanting to host the actual images on a different web server (my own). This would then allow me to have endless amounts of photos and they can take up as much room as I can spare without it impacting my disk quota with my web host provider.

So, my question is:
Is it possible to change the folder that is 'content' to be something along the lines of 'mydomainname.com:8080/content' ? I couldn't find it in config.ini and have looked through some of the .php files that have mentions of the word "content" and "contentfolder" however I'm unsure which bit to change and what impact it may have.

I'm sure it's entirely possible, I just don't know how to go about it. I can set the permissions to be 777 on the directories the images are stored in so that it will allow writing back to my web server for things such as descriptions and thumbnails.

No doubt I'm going to need to change a number of other directories to include the full path of each web server to specify files that are on my primary web host that make up the imagevue pages.

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Scott.

No, this is not possible, however you can move whole gallery to another host with php and content/.
