Imagevue on WHS

15 Feb 2008, 07:23

Hi all,

So, great product and happy to own it. But even though I have this great product I can't use it, I'm stuck getting hold of my picture folder on the server it runs on. I have setup windows home server, and want to use the default network share "Photos" as the root for Imagevue. When I moved all the pictures to the content folder (as intended I guess) and made a NTFS junction point back to the network share it all worked except the read\wright permissions on the network share - which needs to be in order. A junction the other way will not result in any pictures in Imagevue, I can see the folder come up but no pictures or subfolders.

So, any idée on how to get this setup working smooth and dynamically?

Are you adding your images into groupfolders and imagefolder? Ex.: content/holidays/africa/(images here) ?

Hi Karl, when I used the ntfs junction I moved my pictures right under the content folder. I have organized them by subfolders named the year they are taken -> content\2007\Summer Vacation\*.jpg+++ if you get the picture. And this worked fine. But, the idee of having a sentralized storage would be to access the pictures from that network drive cluster, and when reversing the ntfs junction I couldn't get up any folders.... So to bould down the answer - I dont use the default location which imagevue wants me to use. PS:But the imagevue runs on the server administering the shares, if that helps. Please let me know if you need me to do some more explaining.

Edward.
