newbie questions

30 Nov 2006, 08:36

Hi there
Our first post...
Just purchased a copy and have installed on a new website we are building at: http://www.jcmproductions-europe.com
Have several questions and I hope one of the experts here can point us in the right direction:
We wish to have 2 areas on the same site - 1 as a standard gallery and 1 as a slideshow (with completely different sets of photos in each) How do we do this?

We have installed what I thought was the standard copy at the following URL: http://www.jcmproductions-europe.com/ht ... eries.html
and have set up a second page at:
http://www.jcmproductions-europe.com/ht ... shows.html for the slideshow to be run from (obviously blank right now).

The standard copy also seems to allow slideshow as well - am I correct?

Also we have made a new html page for these pages to allow more width to 'fit in' the software but it is still slightly too small - is there a way to adjust the size in the config page - also the floating menu bar at the bottom so it does not need physically moving when the window appears.

Sorry so many questions in the post but we are acxious to get this project up-and-running as quickly as possible

John

Hi John -

You can easily have multiple galleries on your page. I checked your site, and noticed your slideshow module was here: http://www.jcmproductions-europe.com/jc ... deshow.php
You will be able to set which folder the sldieshow located images from by editing slideshowconfig.ini, and setting:
Code
path = yourpath/
The standard copy also seems to allow slideshow as well - am I correct?
The "standard copy", or the imagevue gallery as we like to call it, uses the slideshow to display images, that is correct. The slideshow module may also be used as an independant module as you say. I think this is a good idea for your site, as the slideshow also easier conforms to any layout.
Also we have made a new html page for these pages to allow more width to 'fit in' the software but it is still slightly too small - is there a way to adjust the size in the config page - also the floating menu bar at the bottom so it does not need physically moving when the window appears.
I guess I halfway answered this question above. The slideshow module can easily adapt to any layout/size, but the imagevue gallery has static minimal dimensions. Perhaps you should consider the possibilities for using only the sldieshow module? You could integrate it multiple times on your site, and vary the images it shows just by using a parameter as to which folder it should look for images.

Any further questions, ask away!

Thanks for your help

Had a look through the prog now - love the image loading in the management console and the Imageready droplets you have supplied - very easy to use - thanks...

I have now got both URLs running - well sort of..
Here's the scenario
I have 5 sub directories the content folder called:
Sports
Events
Promotions
Services
Locations
(with sub dir's off each of them)

I have imageview gallery running at.
http://www.jcmproductions-europe.com/ht ... eries.html

I want the first 4 headings (and their sub headings) to appear in this menu BUT all 5 heads are there - how can I specify which appear from the imageview gallery setup file?

and I now have also setup the slideshow from:-
http://www.jcmproductions-europe.com/jc ... deshow.php

I need only the 'Locations' (and it's sub headings) to appear in this menu.
BUT I do not have any menu appearing right now and also cannot get the slideshowconfig.ini to point to the 'locations' directory = it won't work - it will only work if I specify /locations/and then one of the sub heads - then it works - but only shows the test pics I have in there - there is now way to go to the other sub sections as no dropdown menu is appearing ;-(
Why is this?

Other questions.
1) How do I turn on music in the imageview gallery?
2) I have a border showing around all my photos - how do I get rid of this - I don't see one on the demo files on your site?
3) How do I get a menu showing directories and sub dir's to appear in the slideshow side of things (I have it in imageview OK)

You did say "You could integrate it multiple times on your site, and vary the images it shows just by using a parameter as to which folder it should look for images" Maybe there lies the answer to most of the above probs - but how exactly do I do this - TIA?

Best wishes, John
