Use .swf instead of .jpg?

21 Nov 2006, 00:09

Simple quesiton but I assume there is no simple answer. I basically am looking for the ability to include a couple of .swf files as part of my gallery along side my images.

As far as I know it, .swf files as part of the gallery are not supported at this time. Does anyone know of a work around to allow .swf files?

ImageVue is a GREAT product but during my initial research and testing I find that this is a feature that unfortunately it is lacking. I would have thought it would have been included.

Anyways, any help/suggestions/comments are much appreciated.

Thanks.

Don't quote me, but you'll probably see support for this in version 2.

What do you guys think about thumbnails for .swf files? Like any thoughts about how to create/display them?

I still prefer jpg, but including swf or png support might prove useful after some experimentation.

I think .swf support would GREATLY open up a whole new level of possibilities. Imagine having serveral images of the same landscape ... from dusk to dawn.

Currently these images would have to be displayed as individual images (thumbnails) but with an .swf this could be displayed as a time lapse movie .... or could even be controlled by the user with embedded buttons into the .swf file. Just one of MANY possibilites.

As I stated before ... imagevue is an impressive gallery product but I feel that not having initial support for .swf files was a huge over sight.

Actually they do display quite nice in slideshow as a sort of animation with fancy transisions - somebody posted example on this forum there are some design examples like page layouts (for some cms I think), looks really nice where there are different color shemes using same layout in folder and they just blend from one to another in slideshow.
