Clicking in the Thumbnail View has 2 Different Results

27 Oct 2006, 10:20

After opening a folder, clicking in the thumbnail view has 2 results:
I made two different configurations on the thumbnails to see which one I liked better...one has the formatted window that cuts the image (head removed and body showing) and the other has the full-thumb image format, without whitespace. If the thumbnail window doesn't have 12 images in the full-format version of clipped images, there's also whitespace that gives a different view when clicked.

When you click in the white space between the thumbnails in either version of the model folders, a full-size image opens up within the same window where the thumbnails had been- complete with descriptions. Now, when you click on the actual thumbnail, instead of the whitespace, the slideshow style of presentaion opens up. I'm confused as to how this should work. As it is now, it works either way and is confusing to me. I should be able to show one or the other, shouldn't I?

I can understand this may be frustrating to some. Let me try to explain -

In the latest release Imagevue17, we integrated the new Slideshow module with the Imagevue Gallery. This means you now can view images in the flexible slideshow module, as before images were allways constrained within the Imagevue image area. In general, this is a benefit for all users, and I doubt anyone but a few wish to use the older restricted viewing method.

There is a little pinch - The intgration of the slideshow module into imagevue is not perfectly seamless, mainly because the two separate modules were never planned to be united in fusion. It is easy to configure the gallery to work like it did in previous versions.

In the future, we are looking to release a new, completely integrated version.

Thanks for the quick reply. That answered what would have been my next question about the slideshow being a seprate entity.

In my previous question, I like the way both of the displays work- though I'm torn between which I could choose as a config choice. How can I differentiate the choice in the config.ini? Not possible? ...so if I wanted a slideshow to be the choice option, I would make a configuration but what if I wanted the default to be INSIDE the box, a much faster load time, how should that be configured? Seems like the slideshow takes control as the default presentation style in the new version- which is ok for broadband. It looks good and is user-friendly but the other method is quicker to open in a dial-up scenario.

It would be cool to have a choice in the navigation bar for this selection: slideshow/ select image.

I dont fully agree that there is much load difference between the slideshow view and the integrated view. First time you view an image, it has to load the slideshow module, configuration and imagelist - However, for the 2nd image you load, the slideshow is allready cached while configuration and imagelist are stored as global objects. The overhead of loading an image through slideshow is therefore minimal.

Go here and read the update from 26. Oct: viewtopic.php?t=142

To allow the gallery to work in the old fashioned way, change:
Code
thumbopenwin = slideshow
 - to -
thumbopenwin = false
You can also set the navigation so that it contains buttons for both "open in gallery" and "open in slideshow", but my pesonal opinion is that this becomes to many options for the user and can seem confusing.

I like the slideshow better, now that I've got it installed. I've sat and watched an entire show of your examples with ease. Though harder to set-up, the ease of use for the viewer had an advantage over the old version. It is genius.
